Breathe. A simple word. A seemingly simple act. But it is the source of life. And when you breathe consciously, it can have profound effects on your mind and body. It reduces anxiety, shrinks stress, helps you sleep better, and encourages you to be more present. But it can do much more than that. Using breath with intention in sacred space can elevate your spirit and heal your deepest emotional wounds. Breathwork sessions, whether one-on-one or in a group setting, have the power to release trapped emotions from years of suppression and free your true self to embody your fullest potential, on earth and beyond. No matter where you are in life, breathwork can expand your awareness and guide you toward the next phase of your journey while offering a powerful opportunity for self-healing.

“The power of your breath has the ability to transform your life.”

Neo-Shamanic Breathwork

Neo-Shamanic Breathwork is a powerful and holistic breathing practice developed by James Frazier that combines the best of shamanic wisdom and sensibilities with the developmental depth psychology of C. G. Jung and other Jungian theorists. Rooted in the lineage and tradition of Holotropic Breathwork™ developed by Dr. Stanislav Grof, it uses the power of the breath to create a state of heightened awareness and provide access to deeper levels of consciousness. This process can lead to profound healing and personal growth, allowing individuals to increase self-awareness, heal past traumas, and achieve a greater sense of well-being.

What’s included
in your session

+ Experience overview: Before your session, we’ll talk about how to best prepare for the process and answer any questions you may have.

Guided instruction and support throughout the workshop or session: Jen will facilitate and guide you through the entire process.

+ Post-session integration activities: At the end of your journey, Jen will provide integration activities as a way to anchor in your experience.

Additional one-on-one support for processing and integrating your experience is also available.

Here’s what
you can expect

Your experience will be completely unique to you, but here are some of the things you may experience during and following breathwork:

Emotional Release: You’ll bring to the surface and release deep (and sometimes unconscious) emotions or past traumas in a safe and sacred container.

Enhanced Self-Awareness: You’ll gain a broader lens from which to view your life experiences, investigate deeper dimensions of the psyche, and build a better relationship with self.

Spiritual Exploration: You may experience nonordinary states of consciousness beyond the physical and material realms, such as connecting with the transpersonal, the divine or the cosmos, spirit guides, and even past life experiences.

Improved Well-Being: Breathing in a deep and intentional manner not only releases tension from the physical body but fosters a stronger mind-body connection for overall well-being.

  • "My experience with Neo-Shamanic Breathwork has been very valuable in my personal growth and spiritual journey. Jen explained the process in a clear and articulate manner. She has such a calm and supportive energy that I felt completely safe and supported in the process. She is intuitive, insightful, and nonjudgmental. She is also a talented facilitator and I loved working with her!"

  • "I very much enjoyed the breathwork journey experience Jen offered. I felt a bit nervous about the length of the session but Jen’s caring approach and ability to clearly explain the process helped me understand what to expect and how to get the support I might need throughout the session. The lively and engaging music swept me up into breathing right away. I felt very held and supported throughout the journey. Having time to work on a mandala afterward was a helpful way to let the experience settle and transition out."

    Christiane H.

  • "Attending the breathwork session with Jen was a powerful experience for me. I was hesitant going into it as it is far outside my normal comfort zone. However, Jen’s organized, grounded and compassionate manner reassured me right away. During my journey I gained new perspectives on a difficult loss I had experienced as well as had a strong sense that I was letting go of some very hard things. In the weeks that followed I felt lighter, with renewed capacity and a feeling of harmony with myself and the world around me. To a large extent that peacefulness has remained with me, months later."

Q&A

  • Breathwork can stir up strong feelings and sensations. But the best thing about breathwork is that you’re in full control of your journey, unlike psychedelics or plant medicine that must run their course. If feelings or sensations become unmanageable, simply stop or pause the deep breathing for as long as necessary. You’ll also have Jen’s support the entire time to help guide you through if you hit an intense patch.

  • No. While both involve breathing at a faster-than-normal rate, they are not the same thing. Hyperventilating is often involuntary, results in short and shallow breaths, and may occur due to stress, anxiety, or certain medical conditions. Neo-Shamanic Breathwork, on the other hand, is an intentional practice, involves conscious control of the breath, and is guided by a qualified facilitator or instructor.

  • Neo-Shamanic Breathwork is done in an indoor space with eyes closed while lying down on a mat. If in a group workshop, you’ll be sharing the space with several other breathers. You are welcome to move your body as much as you like — while staying on your mat. This is for the safety of yourself and your fellow participants. You might feel “fine,” but this style of breathing invokes nonordinary states and you may not be as conscious as you think. You may feel compelled to get up and dance (the music is powerful!) or expel energy in some way but you can do this from the safety of your mat.

  • Neo-Shamanic Breathwork is a safe practice and can be done frequently. That said, this style of breathwork can be intense. You may have powerful experiences during breathwork that require ample time afterward for processing and integration. It’s best to feel complete with one journey before beginning another. Trust your inner guide to tell you when you’re ready for another session. Jen is also available to help you navigate that decision if you’re feeling unsure.
